Let's imagine a motorized ball valve through a mechanical actuator. In this case the movement of the shutter, which determines the opening and closing of the valve, will be obtained by means of a pneumatic piston that transforms the air pressure into movement energy.
Ball valves are quick-movement valves, because a quarter of a turn is enough to open and close. Furthermore, by operating the ball valve, it is possible not only to adjust the flow rate allowing the flux to flow or not, but also to divert or mix the fluid. In the first case, a two-way motorized ball valve is used, which has an inlet and an outlet; in the second case, however, the valve will be three-way: two inlets and one outlet for mixing or one inlet and two outlets for the deviation of the fluid.
