The Maxidrain centrifugal condensate drain pump is designed and built to collect and remove condensate water produced by air conditioning units, refrigeration systems and condensing boilers (Max 285 kW).
Why use a Maxidrain condensate drain pump
When we talk about condensate removal pumps we normally refer to applications inherent in air conditioning systems, where the transition of water from the gaseous to the liquid state is easily understood. The warm air in the room to be cooled is drawn in by the indoor unit of the air conditioning system, which cools and dehumidifies it, and then releases it back into the room. The moisture removed from the air is collected inside a collection tank as condensate water and piped out of the unit via a discharge pipe. This transition from gaseous to liquid state occurs when moisture in the air comes in contact with a cooler surface. But condensation does not occur only in air conditioning systems or units. It is in fact a phenomenon that also occurs in refrigeration systems (refrigerators, freezers...) as well as in condensing boilers.
Let's look specifically at how the process of condensate water formation occurs inside a condensing boiler. In fact, the continuous flow of cold water returning from the heating system generates condensate droplets in its heating path (See illustration below).
In the specific case of condensate drainage water from a condensing boiler, it has an acidic pH and therefore the collection tank and pump must be made of suitable materials. The Maxidrain condensate removal pump can smoothly handle acidic condensate up to a pH of 2.8. Activation of the pump is automatic thanks to a float level sensor located inside the 0.8-liter-capacity tank that manages its startup and shutdown.
In general, condensate removal pumps are used when the unit's condensate ejection point, formed through the processes described above, is located lower than the discharge point into the water supply, a circumstance in which condensate water cannot be eliminated by gravity or fall. In this case, the ideal solution is to install a condensate removal pump that facilitates its removal. Below are a couple of installation examples.
